Musician and performance artist Janelle Monae makes music the way I want to write: totally out of the box and genuine. If you have not watched her video for the song Tightrope, please do not pass “go;” head directly to YouTube. . . or watch it here. 🙂
Talk about truth and singing from the heart, watch what happens starting at 1:33 when Janelle Monae sings, “I was made to believe there’s something wrong with me.” She released this video as-is. Why? Because it’s deeply honest.
Which artist would you like to write fiction like?
All of the artists I listen too are a bit angsty and though I reading angst I don’t know if I would be able to write it good! Probably like Panic! At the disco because they put loads of energy into their songs and I would like to inject that into my writing. By the way, that girl can sing!

I would definitely be interested in stories that read like Panic! at the Disco’s music. That would be a fun read!

I know right! I think every story would be different like their albums 🙂

If I were writing a romance novel I want it to feel like a mashup of ed sheeran and taylor swift song except maybe less sappy lol. If I were writing a fantasy or maybe action novel id want it to be like the song el dorado by two steps from hell. I think it’s so suspenseful

Hi Eve! Is it weird that I’ve asked myself this question before? Because I totally have. And my answer is definitely Taylor Swift! I think she has such a way of telling a complete story and creating an entire mood in just 3-4 minutes (great song examples: Out of the Woods, All Too Well). I hope my writing leaves you feeling like you ~understand~ the characters, like her lyrics do.
…as you can tell, I’ve given great though to this

That is so cool that you’ve asked yourself this same question! I guess if you’re crazy for asking it, then I am, too. 🙂 Whoah, you and Carolyn both went for Taylor Swift in your answers. I guess I’d better pay closer attention to that girl’s music. . . starting with Out of the Woods and All Too Well.

Love this artist! a new one for me. I know this sounds depressing but Billie holiday speaks to my heart but there are a bunch of artists I love. I love the words of ‘It’s a wonderful world ‘Louie Armstrong. I aslo love the humour in Ray Charles songs.

I would, without question, read a story that has the essence of Billie Holiday’s music.

Oh I love this post, I love Janelle Monae and I love the fact that you’re inspired by her. I’ve been a fan for a very long time and I love to see how her audience has grown and grown over the years. I guess an artist that has inspired my poetry writing in particular is Lauryn Hill. There are many other inspirations but that is the one that is coming to me at the moment so I’m sticking with her.

I am so in love with Janelle Monae as a woman, an artist, a musician. She is so inspiring and exactly the sort of role model that young girls need.

He’s not my absolute favourite artist but I think Tom Jones and his music is amazing. The power, passion alone, then the longevity of his music life, still going strong, versatile, trying out new styles, modes, the energy pure, totally driven, confident, encapsulating.

Hey Eve. I know you already know this but I feel the need to go through the proper protocol so here you go: I just wanted to let you know I nominated you for a Blogger Award which basically means you won an award from me to you my friend! You can read all about it here http://www.tunisiajolyn.com/2016/01/29/oh-look-at-me-getting-an-award-and-shit/ And if you’ve already won or you don’t feel like doing the whole thing, that’s fine by me. 😊
